On the first floor of the main (red) building), there are 11 climatic chambers suitable for research procedures with living organisms that require an accurate control of environmental parameters (temperature, humidity and illumination). It includes a separate room to carry out profilaxis and quarantine protocols and the isolation and treatment of sick animals. It also includes a separate room for performing necropsies, simple diagnostic test, and handling of samples with a low level of biological hazard (see CCL-LPM laboratory for further details).


UEA2

These 243 m2 premises are located on the ground floor of EBD2 (green building). The facility is intended to house small to medium-size animals which do not require a strict control of environmental parameters. It consists of 6 basic rooms for animal housing and carrying out procedures, 2 rooms equipped with a water pool and non-abrasive floor covering, specifically designed to temporary housing of waterfowl, and a quarantine room separated by a security gate, close to the animal entrance to allow isolation of recently admitted animals. Each room is equipped with an independent regulation of temperature, ventilation and lighting, automatically programmed outside window and dechlorinated water.

A laboratory room allows performing simple diagnostic tests, necropsies, handling of samples with a moderate level of biological hazard or carrying out procedures with special requirements (e.g. asepsis). In addition, there is a room for food preparation equipped with a freezer for keeping living food and medicines, a cleaning room with physical separation of dirty and clean materials, and staff entrance separated by security gate.

 


Aviaries and mesocosmos

$elemento.imagen_art.descripcion_img.getData() The external rooftop is designed as an outdoor working area and it is equipped with electricity and dechlorinated water outlet. It contains a modular aviary for housing and acclimation of birds, as well as reptile and small mammal mesocosmos, and a specially reinforced (1500 kg/m2) area to contain aquatic mesocosmos.
