Eighteen researchers at EBD-CSIC in Stanford’s list of top 2% scientists in the world

18 researchers, 2 women and 16 men, working at Doñana Biological Station (EBD-CSIC) have been included in the ‘Ranking of the World Scientists: World Top 2% Scientists' published by the Stanford University in the journal Public Library of Science Biology for 2019. The study looks at 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields and ranks researchers for their career-long impact by the number of times their work is cited in other research.

Among the nearly 160.000 researchers in the list –out of the 7 millions of researchers working in science in the world-, 18 researchers at EBD-CSIC have been ranked. In total, CSIC has 357 people in the list, 12,5% of all the researchers. At EBD-CSIC, this percentage raises up 38,8% of the scientific staff.

Researchers at EBD-CSIC in the ‘Ranking: World Top 2% Scientists' are: Pedro Jordano, Carlos M. Herrera, Montserrat Vilà, Andy J. Green, László Zsolt Garamszegi, Ignasi Bartomeus, Luis Santamaría, Miguel Clavero, Jordi Figuerola, José Luis Tella, Francisco Palomares, Jennifer A. Leonard, José Antonio Donázar, Miguel Ferrer, Ismael Galván, Juan José Negro, Jaime Potti y Miguel Tejedo.

It's also relevant to highlight the presence of Montserrat Vilà and Pedro Jordano in this year's list of Highly Cited Researchers published by Clarivate Analytics. Montserrat Vilà is included in the Category Environment / Ecology and Pedro Jordano in the "Cross-Field" Category. This is an annual list recognizing influential researchers from around the world. The 2020 list contains 6389 Highly Cited Researchers, 3896 in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences and 2493 Highly Cited Researchers are identified as having exceptional performance across several fields. For the 2020 Highly Cited Researchers analysis, the papers surveyed were those published and cited during 2009-2019. To identify researchers with Cross-Field impact, highly cited paper and citations are normalized between fields and summed. The new list includes 103 researchers working in Spain, 18 from CSIC. Five researchers from Spanish institutions appear in the Environment/Ecology area (out of 202) and 28 are classified as "cross field" researchers.
