Open Call for Research Projects in ICTS-Doñana!

The Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure Doñana Biological Reserve (ICTS-Doñana) announces the opening of a call for international research projects in the Doñana Natural Space.

Traffic noise causes lifelong harm to baby birds

A study with CSIC participation reveals for the first time that car noise harms individuals throughout their lifetime even years after exposure

Illegal wildlife trade, a serious problem for biodiversity and human health

A research team led by the Doñana BIological Station and the University Pablo de Olavide have detected wild-caught pets in 95% of the localities in the Neotropic and warns of the risk of zoonotic...

Urbanization and loss of woody vegetation are changing key traits of arthropod communities

Urbanization is favouring smaller beetle species and larger spider species with greater dispersal capacity.

The loss of woody areas is linked to a decline in the duration of the activity...

Call open: 3rd Stable Isotope Course

Call open: 3rd Stable Isotope Course

3rd stable isotope course in ecology and environmental sciences

Following the success of the first and second edition, we are pleased to open a new application period for the third edition of the Stable Isotope Course entitled "STABLE ISOTOPES IN ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES" that will take place between 12 and 16 November, 2018 at Doñana Biological Station EBD-CSIC (Seville) and the Doñana Biological Reserve (Huelva) in Spain. The objective of this course is to develop a conceptual, quantitative, and thorough understanding of principles of stable isotopes and its application to the study of ecology and environmental sciences. The course will focus on the applications of stable isotopes to ecological and environmental studies including a general introduction to the stable isotope biochemistry and ecology, trophic and spatial applications both in terrestrial and aquatic systems. This course is targeted at PhD students and postdoctoral researchers interested in learning more about the ecological and environmental applications of stable isotopes. We look forward to receive applications from people with backgrounds in disciplines including animal and plant physiology, ecology and ecosystem science, biogeochemistry, anthropology, atmospheric science, marine science, oceanography, paleontology, forensic science, industry and geology. This course is organized by the Stable Isotopes Laboratory of Doñana Biological Station EBD-CSIC (LIE-EBD, CSIC).
