My research focuses on the ecology and evolution of bats, with particular emphasis on phylogenetics, the identification of cryptic species, and the coevolution of bats and their viruses using morphological and molecular approaches. My work combines field research with applied studies aimed at biodiversity conservation and the management of conflicts between wildlife and human activities.
The results of my research have contributed to species conservation assessments and the transfer of scientific knowledge to the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, as well as to international organizations such as the IUCN, EUROBATS, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). I also promote knowledge transfer to local authorities and society through technical advice, scientific publications, and outreach activities.
