Montserrat
Vilà
Her research focuses on the ecology of biological invasions by non-native species, particularly in terrestrial ecosystems. In collaboration with an extensive international network of ecologists, she conducts field experiments, field surveys, and database analyses to improve our understanding of the ecology of invasive species and to help mitigate their impacts. Her main research interests include the landscape and environmental factors associated with biological invasions, the biotic factors that regulate the establishment of non-native plants, and the ecological and socioeconomic impacts of biological invasions.
She is an expert researcher in conducting invasion risk assessments and transferring knowledge on the impacts of biological invasions on biodiversity conservation and human well-being to support the development of more effective public policies in these areas.
