Plasticity plays a fundamental role in species responsiveness to a changing environment; however, the way genes express under different circumstances is still poorly understood. Transcriptomics offer a new way to explore how gene expression mediates plasticity and how differential expression profiles may shed light over the different cell processes involved in plasticity. Also, RNA may give some clues on how the regulation of such processes occur. We are currently studying the phenotypic plasticity in different anuran species to understand the role of expression profiles in reaction norms and the potential role of such reaction norms over species current and future distribution.
