How can we investigate the origin of a pandemic? How can we find out the interactions between a new virus and its variants with its host? In this seminar I will talk about some of the work I collaborated on as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic

About the speaker Degree in Biology from the University of Granada (UGR). First contact with research in the Genetics Department of the UGR, studying B chromosomes and transposons in the grasshopper Locusta migratoria, during the completion of the now defunct Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA). Doctorate at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I of the Complutense University of Madrid, in the Biophysics laboratory of Prof. Francisco Montero Carnerero and Prof. Federico Morán Abad. Thesis supervised by Prof. Francisco Montero Carnerero. Solo creation of the Bioinformatics company Omics Bioinformatics S.L . Contract as a Senior Graduate in the EBD, working as a Bioinformatician in the project “Improvement of energy efficiency and e-labs of the ICTS-Doñana Biological Reserve” under the direction of Dr. Jordi Figuerola Borrás. Postdoctoral Felow in the laboratory of Prof. Adolfo García-Sastre, Department of Microbiology, Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai, New York. Publications in Cell, Cell Host and Microbe, and Journal of Theoretical Biology among others.
