My research focuses on the amphibians and reptiles of Doñana, studying aspects related to their reproduction and population dynamics, as well as the temporal dynamics of aquatic systems and the interactions of the different species during their larval phase. I am interested in the role of amphibian larvae in temporary aquatic environments, for which I carry out controlled experiments. My reptile research has focused on chelonians and chameleons, analysing their reproductive ecology, population dynamics and addressing conservation issues. I also study the impact of exotic species, including the impact of Florida freshwater turtles and the red swamp crayfish. In recent years, my research projects have been dedicated to the analysis of the conservation status of the temporary lagoons of Doñana, making a multidisciplinary effort that has allowed me to understand the functioning of the communities in these environments and to determine their current threats.
