Paleolimnology: Reading lake sediments to reveal environmental history
About the talk
Lake sediments act as natural archives, preserving high-resolution records of environmental changes through time. In this talk, I will explain why lakes are excellent indicators of environmental change, how they archive past conditions, and which biological proxies are most commonly used to decode these records. Additionally, I will outline the development of paleolimnological research in Slovakia and highlight key achievements from our research team. This popular-science presentation is designed to be suitable not only for paleolimnologists but also for researchers from other fields interested in environmental change and interdisciplinary approaches.
