My study models are diurnal and nocturnal predatory vertebrates, in areas from urban to mountainous, and temperate to tropical. I develop my research around four main themes. One addresses de question how behavioural strategies (e.g. signalling, migration, prospecting) vary among or within individuals through life, with important repercussions on fitness and demography. I also explore the role of top predatory species in ecosystems and its conservation implications (e.g. links with wider biodiversity). In my third research line I assess the impact of climate change on animal behaviour, fitness and demography, with emphasis on mean and extreme climatic conditions. I am also interested in. the conservation of declining, threatened predators in protected areas. Here, I focus on how demographic models and GPS-tracking technologies used as mortality-surveillance devices can be exploited to prevent extinction.
