My research focuses on evolutionary and conservation issues at the population and species levels. I believe that understanding the origins of genetic diversity within and between species, and integrating this with ecological and behavioural studies, is essential for gaining a deeper understanding of natural processes and for developing optimal strategies for biodiversity conservation and management.
I am currently leading a research project on chromosomal inversions as a mechanism of sympatric differentiation in quails and another on phenotypic diversification and evolution in Neotropical amphibians. I also investigate the processes driving diversity in domestic and wild canids.
My research can provide insights for population management, with implications for economic activities such as hunting or quail breeding.
