My research focuses on evolutionary and conservation questions at the population and species levels. I believe that insight into the origin of genetic diversity within and between species, and its integration with ecological and behavioral studies, is fundamental for achieving a deeper understanding of natural processes and for the development of optimal strategies for conservation and management of the biodiversity.

I am currently leading a research line on chromosomal inversions as a mechanism for sympatric differentiation in quails and another on the diversification and phenotypic evolution in Neotropical amphibians. I also investigate the ongoing processes that drive diversity of domestic and wild canids
