Closed for Renovation!
This month the renovation works on the Palace of Doñana will be started. The works will last until the end of 2015 as part of the project "Adaptation and Improvement of Internationalization of E-Infrastructure ICTS-RBD". This project, executed in collaboration with IFCA-CSIC, is funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness MINECO (Structural Funds EU). The overall objective of the project is to adapt and improve the Information and Communication Technology (TIC) network at...
Identification and quantification of melanin types by Raman spectroscopy
Melanins are the most prevalent pigments in animals and are involved in visual communication by producing colored traits that often evolve as intraspecific signals of quality. Identifying and quantifying melanins are therefore essential to understand the function and evolution of melanin-based signals.
Geographical variation in mutualistic networks
Although species and their interactions in unison represent biodiversity and all the ecological and evolutionary processes associated with life, biotic interactions have, contrary to species, rarely been integrated into the concepts of spatial ?-diversity. Here, ?-diversity of ecological networks is examined using pollination networks sampled across the Canary Islands.
Blood analysis potential in wild vertebrates studies
Blood analyses have great potential in studies of ecology, ecotoxicology and veterinary science in wild vertebrates. The major caveat for field researchers, however, is that the ‘rules’ for human or domestic animal haematology do not always apply to wildlife.
Sex ratio adjustments of the glossy ibis
The sex ratio is an important parameter affecting population demographics. This is a study of the mechanisms and causes of changes over time in the sex ratio of the glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) in the main breeding colony in Doñana.
