Conservation Biology and Global Change

Julián
Cano Povedano

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Granada and a Master's degree in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology from Pablo de Olavide University. I completed my Master's thesis on the biovectoring of waterbirds from landfills to wetlands, and in early 2023 I began my PhD at the Doñana Biological Station (EBD), expanding on this research topic. My PhD focuses on the role of waterbirds, specifically storks and gulls, in the biovectoring of plastics from landfills to wetlands. To investigate this, I combine pellet analyses with movement analyses of individual birds. More broadly, my research interests focus on waterbirds and wetlands.

Thesis: Waterbirds as biovectors of plastics
