His main area of research focuses on conservation biology, applied ecology and the study of birds of prey.
He has devoted much of his career to studying the behaviour, migratory routes and ecology of large birds of prey, with his findings on the Iberian imperial eagle being particularly noteworthy. His research has been instrumental in designing recovery and reintroduction plans for threatened species.
