My research is in the field of plant evolutionary ecology. I am particularly interested in the ecological interactions between plants and animals, the evolution of the reproductive system, and the role of epigenetic regulation in the dynamics of these two evolutionary processes in wild plant populations. I combine field observation with experimental design. I work mainly in Mediterranean mountain ecosystems, and analysing the specific characteristics of the evolutionary processes taking place within them has also become a focus of my research. One of my favourite research sites is the Sierra de Cazorla, a stunning area renowned for its ecological and cultural diversity and heterogeneity.
The results of my research are shared with society through my participation on the Governing Board of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, where I contribute my expertise primarily on the issues discussed by the Sustainable Development Committee.
