Her research focuses on the factors that regulate populations within ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the impacts of invasive species. She seeks to understand how key species influence ecosystem structure and functioning by combining theoretical, observational, and experimental approaches, with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation and management.
She holds a PhD in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research has addressed the conservation of low-density populations, the regulation of genetically modified organisms for wildlife management, and the ecological and economic impacts of invasive species. She has primarily worked with two model systems: the Argentine ant and the European rabbit.
She provides scientific evidence to support the management of invasive species, particularly invasive ants, and the use of genetically modified viruses for wildlife management, with a focus on European rabbit populations.
