I am a conservation biologist, especially interested in how to best manage threats to the persistence of biodiversity under dynamic conditions and limited resources. My work involves an interdisciplinary approach, from ecology to mathematics and computing science, to understand the ecological and socio-economic problems behind the decline of biodiversity and ecosystem services and provide novel methods and tools to address them. I have focused on the evaluation of the adequacy of policy and management efforts to halt biodiversity loss and the development of data to help make better informed decisions. I still work on my initial field of freshwater conservation planning and extended this research lines to integrating terrestrial and freshwater conservation dependencies, adding my expertise on landscape ecology and forest biodiversity. I have also focused on assessing the adequacy of European policies, explored how to distribute the scarce resources available for conservation and designing networks of Green Infrastructure.
