My research investigates the far-reaching consequences of transgenerational effects of sexual interactions on Darwinian fitness. Specifically, I combine experiments on life-history and behavioural traits in first and second generation offspring from mothers with different sexual interaction histories; gene expression patterns of offspring from parents that had been subject to varying levels of sexual conflict; and the evolutionary impacts of sexual interactions on subsequent generations within an experimental evolution approach. I am conducting experiments in two model species for sexual conflict research, the seed beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus, and the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster.
