Brief description
Through the Bridging Research on Environmental Attribution and Health Equity (BREATHE) project, we will develop an innovative framework for health impact attribution applicable across geographical scales and socio-economic contexts. The project will take advantage of pioneering research methods and a wealth of climate and epidemiological data to attribute impacts for a range of weather events
and climate patterns on different morbidity and mortality health outcomes. We will first utilize the largest-ever climate-health database to perform attribution analyses through a multi-country lens. We will then deep-dive into two representative countries with different socio-economic statuses and climates, Brazil and the UK, using rich high-resolution climate and health data to map impacts and identify fine-scale vulnerability patterns. We will finally demonstrate applications in traditionally data- poor regions, filling gaps in evidence of climate-health impacts. The project will involve and has been co-developed with a wide network of stakeholders to identify research needs, facilitate the focus on vulnerable communities, and embed the evidence in national and local adaptation plans. We will open up our climate and health attribution output and methods to the world, through integration into an open and well-established data platform, which allows unrestricted access
